Just got a bulletin from the Justice Department

Beginning July 1, 2008 California Penal Code Section 12072(f)(1) PROHIBITS all FFLS (that would be us) from shipping firearms to an FFL in California unless, prior to delivery, the sending FFL (us again) obtains a verification approval number from the California Department of Justice Bureau of Firearms. The verification approval number, which the Bureau of Firearms provides in a Firearms Shipment Approval LETTER, confirms that the intended recipient of the firearm shipment is properly licensed and listed in the state's database of persons/entities authorized to receive firearm shipments.

So the state is doing a double check on Federal Firearms License holders. Today, we get a copy of the California(or any other state) dealers license, and we go to the ATF website and double check the number against the Federal database to make sure the license is current and the ship to address matches. By definition, the persons at that address are authorized by the Federal government to receive firearm shipments. Now, California wants their own database. This is nothing more than an effort to impede the firearm transaction process and deter the outside world from dealing with California. It will probably work. Many distributors already refuse to ship to California. This new law puts the burden on the seller so we won't want to fool with it. They will be doing similar things to impede the selling and shipment of ammunition into the state as well. The other liberal states will do their best to follow suit. This will make being a dealer in California that much more difficult. Guns that are already in the state, will again shoot up in value.

I suggest everyone be on the lookout for measures like this in your own state legislatures and be ready to do whatever it takes to stop it from getting a toe hold anywhere else.

Yeah, I read about that acouple days ago. Calif. is heading down a road that is going to make it extreamly expensive (if at all possible) for even police to get firearms. Just not smart.

With Nancy Pelosi and Diane Feinstein both calling California home, I don't see that Arnold has enough clout to get much done. Not too mention his wife is a Kennedy. He was popular enough to get elected, but isn't effective as a governor. The real problem is the citizens. I had a guy who just moved there from Alaska and was having trouble dealing with the withdrawl from being able to shoot anything anywhere. He said it was unfortunate that he gave up his gun rights, but he would have to deal with it. This is a good reason people need to be competiting and hunting with their guns. Losing their gun rights will force them to change their lifestyle and they will fight for that more than they will fight just to be able to have guns in the closet. I encourage everyone to find someone who doesn't shoot and get them out there and get them hooked. If you have to spend $100 of your own money feeding a new shooter ammo, its a good investment if you can get that person to get involved. That's my philosophy anyway. Live To Shoot, Shoot to Live. Shoot to keep your rights. I don't know if California can ever be saved, but I see California influence on Illinios and New York every day. We don't won't to completely loose two more states. Maybe we should move to Puerto Rico, I hear they have good laws down there.
