I recently completed another M-1 restoration, and now she's finished and ready for another 60 years of front-line service (well...weekends anyway:-) We started off with a CMP Greek lend-lease M-1 that had recently been returned to the US. Her barrel was worn out and there was little or no finish remaining. Her Greek-made birch stock did not fit well to say the least! Actually it was one of the WORST-fitting M-1 stocks I've ever seen. On the plus side, her working bits were in great shape mechanically, and this all formed the basis for a great restoration. What's really amazing about this is how FEW parts needed to be replaced. Even the rear handguard clip was restored and used again.

Now she sports a brand new barrel, a brand new Wenig M-1 stock and handguard set...all properly fitted of course, and a few new parts that replaced the worn ones. She's got all new Manganese Phosphate parkerizing per customer request, which looks very dark compared to the WWII Zinc Phosphate park. (postwar rifles used Manganese)

Anyway, let the photos do the talking, and let's welcome this old girl back to the firing line. The first two pictures are "before" photos (obviously...I hope) and the second two are "after" pics.

OMG Glenn that is so beautiful it almost brought a tear to my eye. Great work! If you don't mind what would a rifle like that cost to purchase? I have always wanted to own a beautiful piece of history like that. 8)

David,
Thank you so much for the kind words. That Greek-return M-1 came out really nice, and it was one of those projects that just naturally came together as if God himself wanted it to come to fruition. I'll be talking to you soon. Tim's got a nice M-1 with your name on it. 8) There are a lot of options to discuss.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. The appreciation I get from my peers is a big part of the fulfilment I get out of this work.

David,
We need to get you some pics soon, and we can take things in whichever direction you want. I'll tell you one thing though, the M-1 is an engineering masterpiece and has a "feel" of quality that is almost impossible to find anywhere else in this day and age. They can become a "wee-bit" addictive too. :) I personally feel every REAL rifleman needs an M-1 in their gun rack. It's the standard by which other battle rifles are judged.
