I recently purchased three .22 semi auto rifles - one each for each grandson. An older Marlin 60, an fairly nice Savage 135A, and a newer Marlin 60 SB. Both the Marlin's and the Savage are getting completely cleaned inside and out, dressed up a bit with new 3-9x32 Simmons scopes, and the two older rifles are getting new finishes on the stocks. Since I have them taken apart I started reading a LOT about bedding the stocks. Every article discusses bedding a bolt action rifle. Now the question I can not seem to get an answer to from reading all those "How To" articles - will bedding these three semi auto's be worth the effort?

as a starter plinking rifle for a kid, i wouldnt worry about it.
but if you jst want to get some practice at bedding, go for it. it wont hurt anything!
frankly, i think bedding is marginally worth it in a "high performance" bolt rifle!!
