I am the older of the two Dowdle boys and when I tell people that I am starting a business in the firearm industry I always get the same response.

"Huh, you don't look like a gun guy".

I still haven't figured out what that means or what a "gun guy" looks like but part of Tim and my dream is to knock down the stereotype of the gun culture.

We want to open up the industry so it is a place where woman, kids, and non-shooters feel comfortable looking around.

We will slowly unveil on this forum and on our blog (http://blog.livetoshoot.com) what our dream is so stay tuned.

Jeff, you're definitely right about the stereotype situation. People who would normally never use a sterotypical expression suddenly feel free to call you just about whatever name they want to when they find out you're a "gun guy". I get it at work all the time. This situation must be altered.

Like the Beastie Boys said, "you've got to fight for your right to party!"

Were I'm from it's more like you just get a look like you have the plague, no kidding. People think you are a mental defective around here if you show the slightest interest in firearms. What can I say I'm out numbered in a state where the majority are Communists.

I learned to shoot in boy scouts, and with my father and family, this site will be a great resource for anyone wanting to learn somthing that they don't know. I love being here at the beginning, to bad the scouts didn't teach me to spell
